Neglect and Court Ordered Abuse

by M Barnett
what domestic abuse feels like
This story was shared by a concerned mother recently maybe someone can relate-
tp rations
"so I just heard a new story ........one of a million from my daughter
She struggles with ptsd and bipolar........
so sad she has so many stories tucked away...........
she might have uti......
she said she had it at her fathers...."
because she tried to save her toilet paper which was rationed between  step siblings, two babies and her brother, my son.......... and got uti....... did not go to doctors....... got worse infection......hospital for the love of God......
Tp rations horrible....
ridiculous.....
and this was the Father awarded custody....
sick.....
sick....
so triggered by it..... I was paying one third my income for this?
she was saving tp for number two.....
how sad is that....
terrible double standards they could shift custody if it was at your house ---it is ignored if reported at his house
poor child.....
yes...... God Come Quickly.....
how are you?
I am so triggered by this story....
I don't sleep anymore
I think I said the same sentence
poor thing
I barely do and anxiety worsening
(I remember my child struggled too......terrible...I remember the heartache for the child who was stolen and not cared for....it hurt my daughter to tell me the stories of neglect....she knew it would hurt me....my heart ached for this mother, this child and my own....)

Is family court really a "kids for cash" business?
An estimated 58,000 children a year are court-ordered for custody or unsupervised visitation with reported abusers. That means in many cases, children are being ordered to live with their rapists. Child custody courts are generating approximately $50 billion dollars a year from the business of exploiting families in crisis and putting children in direct harm's way. Adverse childhood experiences are the most basic cause of health risk behaviors, morbidity, disability, mortality, and health care costs. In fact, it costs taxpayers $500 billion dollars a year in health care related costs due to adverse childhood experiences. Safe Child Act: Making health, safety of CT children the priority

JANUARY 21, 2016
"The most dangerous time for a woman victim of DV is when she leaves her abusive partner. Once an abuser recognizes that he has lost control, he will seek control in other ways. Most court professionals fail to understand that custody is the most common tactic used by these abusers. Court professionals have been taught to treat contested custody as "high conflict cases, but between 75-90 percent are really these dangerous DV cases...
It is time that custody courts stop practices that pressure victims to cooperate with their abusers and instead force abusers to stop their abuse if they want a relationship with their children. It is time for the courts to integrate important research like ACE and Saunders into their practices. It is time to reform outdated practices from the 1970s." -Barry Goldstein
